Zoltan Vajda (Kalumet aka Trevor McGregor aka Soundokan aka Ork Monk) has walked on the electronic road since 1994, when acid parties started to spread in Budapest.
His music career began some years before, when playing bass in a band, but soon his interest turned to electronic dance music. With the help of a computer and many instruments (guitars, keyboards, percussions, etc.) he started to create his own tracks.
His first release came out in 1998, as part of a Hungarian remix compilation. The same year together with his friends he founded Basic Noise Utd., forming a party promoter and producer collective. On their parties he already used the name 'Kalumet' and worked as a dj and organizer.
Two years later, in the first year of the new Millenium he gave his first live act on an open air trance party. That was the period of the Hungarian trance-boom. Other gigs and releases followed with huge success and he became one of the most significant producers of the local scene. Soon he found himself as a standard tool of dancefloors and chill out areas, as the audience much appreciated his characteristic style, that has always been a fusion of many genres.
Since 2001 he has regularly played abroad. He often plays in Bulgaria, where he is part of the Headoneast promotion project, several times in Germany and Austria. But the highlight definitely was Boom Festival in 2004, with an unforgettable live set on the first morning, on the ambient stage.
Coming back from Portugal he got the idea to run other projects with different alteregos, so Trevor McGregor (minimal/elektro/house), Ork Monk (twisted psy) and Soundokan (minimal dubtech) were born step by step.
He also collaborates with friends, giving a shape to projects like Tupoliev, Rezzonance Dogs and Monotonists. Not to be bored, he is recently working on his first Kalumet album, which will find the balance of trance, funk, tribal and many more...
